Self Care - Chasing a Golden Deer!

As women, we often put the needs of others before our own. Whether it's taking care of children, supporting a partner or managing a demanding career, it can be easy to neglect our own needs. Unfortunately, this can lead to burnout and other negative consequences.

There are many reasons why women tend to avoid self-care.

  1. One of the biggest reasons is guilt. We may feel guilty for taking time off from work or spending money on ourselves instead of our families.

  2. We may also feel like we don't deserve to take care of ourselves, or that there are more important things to focus on.

  3. Another reason is societal pressure. Women are often expected to be caretakers, putting the needs of others before their own. This can lead to feelings of shame or selfishness when we prioritize our own needs.

  4. Finally, many women simply don't know where to start with self-care. With so many different options available, it can be overwhelming to figure out what works best for us.

It's important for women to make self-care a priority in their daily routines. By taking care of ourselves, we can be more present and effective in our other roles. Start small by carving out time for yourself each day, even if it's just a few minutes. Experiment with different self-care practices, whether that be exercise, mindfulness, or simply taking a break to read a book.

Here are five self-care ideas specifically for women to prioritize in their daily routines:

  1. Practice self-compassion: Women often feel pressure to do it all and be perfect, but it's important to remember that nobody is perfect. Be kind to yourself, treat yourself with compassion and give yourself permission to take a break.

  2. Move your body in a way that feels good: Whether it's yoga, running, dancing or going on a hike, move your body in a way that feels good to you. Exercise has numerous physical and mental health benefits and can help to reduce stress levels.

  3. Take care of your skin: A good skincare routine can make a big difference in how you feel about yourself. Take the time to find products that work for your skin type, and establish a consistent routine.

  4. Connect with supportive women: Surround yourself with women who uplift and support you. This may be through joining a group or club that aligns with your interests or simply reaching out to friends and family who lift you up.

  5. Prioritize rest: Rest is just as important as productivity. Make sure to give yourself time to unwind and recharge, whether that be by taking a bath, reading a book or simply relaxing on the couch.

Remember, self-care looks different for everyone. It's important to find what works best for you and prioritize it in your daily routine. By taking care of yourself, you'll be better equipped to handle whatever life throws your way.

Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.
